What is SacRT SmaRT Ride?

SmaRT Ride is a ride-sharing service similar to other existing services where users can request rides through a smartphone application. It allows passengers to be picked up and dropped off at any desired location within specified service boundaries.

How does SacRT SmaRT Ride work?

Once you have downloaded the app, you can schedule your pickup location, desired time frame, and destination. The app algorithm matches you in real-time with a SmaRT Ride bus in your area to provide transportation services.

The app also offers features such as estimated pick-up times, real-time bus tracking, and alerts for when your ride is about to arrive.

Current service areas provide curb-to-curb assistance, meaning passengers are picked up and dropped off at the addresses they specified during scheduling. In newer service areas, corner-to-corner service is provided, where passengers are picked up and dropped off at the nearest corner or 'virtual bus stop,' usually within one or two blocks of their desired location. In the Downtown zone, stops are limited to designated SacRT bus stops.

SmaRT Ride customers can also request rides by calling 916-556-0100. However, trip requests must be made on the same day, and wait times are subject to vehicle availability and demand.

How long will I wait?

The estimated drop-off window provided by the app is based on your desired travel time. However, due to demand fluctuations, actual drop-off times may vary. Please note that while efforts are made to arrive at your desired travel time, there may be a slight wait for the SmaRT Ride bus due to high demand. If you have specific arrival time requirements, it is recommended to plan your trip with some extra time.

Your pick-up time will be accurately estimated before booking, and you can also track the bus in real-time through the app.

What are the hours of SmaRT Ride?

SmaRT Ride operates from Monday to Friday, including all zones. It runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., except for the Downtown-Midtown-East Sacramento zone, which operates from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the Citrus Heights-Antelope-Orangevale zone, which operates from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, visit sacrt.com/smartride.

How many passengers will I share the bus with?

The number of passengers you share a journey with will vary based on capacity and your chosen destination. The buses are designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 people.

How do I pay?

SmaRT Ride accepts various forms of payment, including cash and all SacRT fare media such as Connect Card, Zip Pass, RydeFreeRT, and discount passes.

What else do I need to know about using the service?

If you require the use of a wheelchair space, you can indicate it in your app profile.

Children under the age of 13 can only use the service if accompanied by a registered adult.

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please call 916-321-BUSS (2877).
